Heat, History, and High Stakes in Darwin
The heat, the atmosphere, the late sunsets and packed crowds at Hidden Valley Raceway make the Darwin Triple Crown one of the most unique stops on the Supercars calendar. Every year, the championship heads north for one of the toughest and most entertaining weekends of the season. In 2026, the action returns from 19–21 June.
Since its debut in 1998, Darwin has delivered unforgettable moments. The circuit’s long straights, heavy braking zones and tropical conditions create the perfect recipe for aggressive racing, strategy plays and plenty of drama. It’s become a fan favourite for drivers and spectators alike, firmly established as one of the marquee rounds of the championship.
When it comes to success at Hidden Valley, few names stand taller than Mark Skaife, the most successful driver at the circuit, with eight race wins. Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup have also built incredible records in the Top End, with Whincup claiming six victories at the venue.
The Darwin Triple Crown trophy itself is one of the hardest to win in Australian motorsport. Introduced in 2006, it was designed for a driver capable of dominating the entire weekend, something that proved nearly impossible for years. Scott McLaughlin became the first to officially win the Triple Crown in 2019, followed by Jamie Whincup in 2020. Most recently, Broc Feeney added his name to the history books after a dominant clean sweep in 2025, becoming just the third winner of the coveted trophy.
The 2025 event saw Feeney at his absolute best, victory after victory in a commanding performance that cemented him as the man to beat in the championship fight. Fans were treated to huge crowds, intense racing and another classic Darwin weekend, with the event continuing to prove why it is one of the highlights of the Supercars season.
That is what makes Darwin so special. It’s a bucket-list motorsport trip where fans combine Supercars action with everything the Top End has to offer. From the buzzing atmosphere around the circuit to Darwin’s waterfront, bars and dry-season weather, the entire city comes alive for Supercars weekend.
