Townsville North Queensland, Alive with Curiosity
Townsville is the gateway to island, reef, rainforest, wetland and outback experiences. Townsville has all the big city benefits and events to accompany the idyllic attractions and natural wonders the North Queensland Region has to offer.
Townsville is home to The Strand where you can relax with its beautiful parks, swimming beaches, jetty, restaurants and cafes overlooking the warm waters of the Coral Sea. Immerse yourself in the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef at the world’s largest living coral reef aquarium, Reef HQ Aquarium. With events such as the Townsville 400 Supercars, Australian Festival of Chamber Music, Groovin the Moo and national rugby league team the North Queensland Cowboys, there is an event for every individual.
From dry land explore the historic town of Charters Towers, head north to rainforests, or south to the Burdekin to explore the wreck of the famous S.S Yongala. Magnetic Island, situated in the protected Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, is just 20 minutes across the bay from Townsville. Bask in the warmth of 320 days of sunshine where rocky headlands fuse with 23 bays and beaches.
